Cycling is an activity that is practiced in this region due to its natural beauty, its cultural diversity and its sporting challenge. The Chiapas highlands are a mountainous area that covers several municipalities, such as San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chamula, Zinacantán, Chenalhó and San Juan Cancuc. In these places you can find impressive landscapes, such as forests, valleys, lakes and waterfalls, as well as indigenous communities that preserve their traditions and customs.

Cycling in the highlands of Chiapas is a way to get to know and enjoy these places, as well as to exercise and have fun. There are several routes and circuits to practice mountain biking or cycle tourism, which adapt to different levels of difficulty and preferences. Some of the most popular routes are the Coffee Route, which runs through the coffee farms in the region; the Lake Route, which passes through the Montebello and Chiflón lakes; the Waterfall Route, which visits the El Chiflón and Agua Azul waterfalls; and the Mayan Route, which explores the archaeological zones of Palenque and Bonampak.
