Can you imagine walking along a path surrounded by lush vegetation, listening to the murmur of a river that transforms into turquoise waterfalls? That is what awaits you if you visit Chiflón, a natural park located in the municipality of Tzimol, in the state of Chiapas.

El Chiflón is a set of five waterfalls that are formed by the bed of the San Vicente River. The tallest and most spectacular is the so-called Bridal Veil, which measures 70 meters high and falls forcefully over a pool of crystalline water. The other four waterfalls are El Suspiro, Ala de Ángel, Arco Iris and Quinceañera, each with its own beauty and charm.

To get to the waterfalls, you have to walk a paved path of about 970 steps, which can be done in about an hour. Along the way, you can see different species of flora and fauna, such as bromeliads, orchids, fruit trees, mahogany, cedar, birds, butterflies and squirrels. The climate is hot and humid, so it is recommended to wear comfortable clothing and shoes, as well as water and sunscreen.

El Chiflón is an ecotourism center managed by the ejidatarios of the area, who offer various services for visitors. Among them are cabins to stay, a restaurant with typical Chiapas food, a craft store, palapas for picnics, parking and restrooms. In addition, you can practice activities such as zip lining, mountain biking and hiking.

El Chiflón is open every day of the year, from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The entrance fee is 50 pesos per person. To get to Chiflón from Tuxtla Gutiérrez or San Cristóbal de las Casas, you can take your own car or public transport to Comitán de Domínguez, and from there another transport to the park. Another option is to hire a tour that includes a visit to Chiflón and other nearby attractions, such as the Montebello Lagoons or the Lagunas de Colón National Park.

El Chiflón is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and impressive places in Chiapas, which will make you feel in contact with nature and admire its majesty. Don't miss the opportunity to discover this paradise of water and green on your next trip to Chiapas.
