Chiapas, seguridad y turismo

Chiapas, one of Mexico's richest states in culture and biodiversity, has recently come under the spotlight due to security issues.

The Current Situation

According to recent reports, the Employers' Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) has highlighted that there is a black figure of unreported crimes of up to 90.5 percent. This figure, although alarming, should not be interpreted as a complete reflection of the security situation in Chiapas, since it may also indicate a lack of confidence in the institutions in charge of security and justice.

At first, the highest lake in those mountains was a liquid mirror that reflected the sky. Its waters were nourished by the streams that descended singing from the Hill of the Bearded Trees. Veins of water ran quickly, jumping over the branches. Dozens of small rivers flowed through the Cerro de los Hummingbirds, and small mirrors of water from the Cerro de las Tripas de Jaguar bathed the meadows. Silver threads filled the mountains of the Wind with joy and streams, which descended argünderos.
